Curriculum
In 2013 we continue to implement the Australian Curriculum.
At Tailem Bend Primary School, teachers plan, teach, assess and report (A-E or word equivalent) to parents using the Australian Curriculum (content and achievement standards) in:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- History
The Australian Curriculum includes 7 General Capabilities:
- Literacy
- Numeracy
- Information and communication technology (ICT) competencies
- Critical and creative thinking
- Ethical behaviours
- Personal and social competencies
- Intercultural understandings
The 3 Cross Curriculum Priorities are:
- Sustainability
- Asia and Australia’s engagement with Asia
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and culture
The following curriculum areas are taught at Tailem Bend Primary and will gradually move under the Australian Curriculum framework:
- Health and physical education – specialist teacher
- The Arts
- Languages (Chinese) – specialist teacher
- Geography
Music is taught by a specialist teacher and students have the opportunity of learning an instrument through the Instrumental Music Services.
Reporting to Parents
- Parent/Caregiver Acquaintance Night term 1
- Written reports terms 2 and 4
Parents/caregivers are encouraged to make contact with the class teacher throughout the year should they have a concern or query.
